Our Comprehensive Educational Therapy Process

Assessment

One-to-One Intervention

One-to-One Intervention

The first step is an assessment, which includes an interview process and potentially assessments to identify each student’s strengths and areas of challenge in learning skills like reading, math or writing, executive functioning skills, and other essential foundations for academic success. This process provides valuable insight into how a student learns and what specific supports may be most beneficial. It also helps create a personalized roadmap for academic growth and skill development.
Please note: This assessing is for educational planning purposes and is not a formal diagnosis. When appropriate, referrals are provided for further evaluation by licensed professionals.

One-to-One Intervention

One-to-One Intervention

We tailor tools and strategies to support each client’s unique learning profile, with a focus on building independence and long-term success. For students, this can include targeted support in reading (decoding, comprehension, and fluency), expressive writing, math, and study skills. In addition, we get to the root of learning challenges, helping clients of all ages understand how they learn, leverage their strengths, and develop ways to overcome or improve areas of difficulty in school, careers or life. We also support the emotional journey that often accompanies learning differences, including frustration, self-doubt, and the loss of confidence, creating space for resilience, self-trust, and renewed motivation.

Executive Functioning

One-to-One Intervention

Cognitive Processing Training

Executive functioning skills help us plan, organize, manage time, start tasks, and follow through, all essential for success in school, work, and life. When these skills are underdeveloped, learning and life can feel overwhelming. We help clients strengthen these skills with practical, personalized strategies. Some of these include how to stay organized and manage time effectively, break tasks into manageable steps, prioritize and plan with confidence, build healthy routines and habits, and strengthen motivation and follow-through.
Through one-on-one coaching, clients learn how to better manage responsibilities, increase productivity, and become more independent and confident.

Cognitive Processing Training

Self-Awareness & Self-Advocacy Development

Cognitive Processing Training

Cognitive training exercises are designed to strengthen the brain and improve core processing abilities. These may include processing speed, working memory, visual and auditory processing, attention, executive functioning, sequencing, and critical thinking. For clients with challenges like nonverbal learning disabilities (NVLD), we can also target skills such as visualization, spatial reasoning, and the ability to organize and synthesize information, essential for seeing the big picture and making meaningful connections. Each exercise is carefully tailored to the client’s unique cognitive profile and supports the development of stronger, more efficient neural pathways over time.

Case Management and Collaboration

Self-Awareness & Self-Advocacy Development

Self-Awareness & Self-Advocacy Development

Effective support doesn’t happen in isolation. We actively partner with families, teachers, and other professionals to create a unified and consistent approach across home, school, work and therapeutic settings. We work with our clients and families to determine what level of communication is appropriate depending on each individual’s developmental stage, personal preferences, and current context in life . Our goal is to ensure that everyone involved in our client’s growth is working together. This team-based model provides students with a stronger, more cohesive support system that fosters lasting success.

Self-Awareness & Self-Advocacy Development

We help individuals understand how they learn and how to effectively communicate their needs through self-advocacy. By demystifying the learning process, we build self-awareness, boost confidence, and strengthen self-esteem. This empowerment extends beyond academics or professional goals, supporting growth in academics, work, and daily life. As clients become more attuned to their strengths and challenges, they learn to take ownership of their learning and personal development. Over time, they build resilience, independence, and the ability to navigate complex situations with greater clarity and confidence.

An Integrative Approach

At Integrative Educational Therapy (IET), we take an integrative approach to learning and personal growth because learning doesn’t happen in isolation. It’s deeply connected to overall well-being, and is most effective when the brain and body are supported in harmony.

When individuals eat in ways that support brain function, get restorative sleep, move their bodies and have tools to manage stress, they’re better able to access their full cognitive potential, whether in a classroom, the workplace, or everyday life.

Wellness fuels clarity, focus, and resilience. By integrating practices that support both mental and physical health, we help clients develop sustainable habits that enhance learning, productivity, and long-term success.

Our integrative model empowers people of all ages to build a strong foundation of health, confidence, and adaptability that supports them in every area of life.

Ultimately, our goal is to nurture not just academic or professional progress, but whole-person development that lasts.

Integrative Movement

Movement is one of the most powerful tools we have for improving focus, emotional regulation, and learning readiness. Yet many students/adults spend most of their day sitting, thinking harder and harder while their bodies are asking to move.

Our Integrative Movement sessions are short, guided classes designed to help students/adults reset their nervous system, reconnect with their bodies, and prepare their brains to learn.

These sessions combine purposeful movement, breath work, grounding exercises, and mindfulness to help students transition out of the stress of the day and into a state where focus and learning are much easier.

In just 30 minutes, students and adults can release excess energy, calm their minds, and return to their work feeling more centered and ready to perform.

Integrative Movement sessions can be used before sessions, tutoring, homework, or as a reset after a long school or work day.

Why Movement Matters for Learning

Research continues to show that movement directly impacts how the brain functions. Movement increases circulation, activates both hemispheres of the brain, and helps regulate the nervous system.

When students move intentionally, they are able to:

• improve focus and attention
• reduce anxiety and mental overwhelm
• increase emotional regulation
• improve energy and alertness
• prepare the brain for learning and problem solving
• release built-up physical and mental tension

Movement also supports executive functioning by helping students transition between activities, regulate their energy levels, and become more aware of how their bodies and minds work together.

Learning does not happen only in the brain. It happens in the body as well.

These sessions are informed by Michelle Schwarzmann’s work as a Board Certified Educational Therapist, Clinical Nutritionist, and Certified Yoga Instructor, allowing IET to support students through a truly whole-student approach.
